Acquis compliance & Energy efficiency in the Western Balkan countries
PACE project covers: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, FYR of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia
There are two main components of the PACE project:
1) Acquis Audit
A diagnostic Acquis Toolkit, allowing measuring the level of compliance with EU legislation in the fields of: environment, health & safety at work, chemical products, foodstuffs and technical harmonisation has been developed;
20 experts of the Chambers of Commerce in 6 Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, FYR of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia) have been trained on selected parts of the acquis and the use of the toolkit;
From 29 August 2011 until 30 November 2011 300 companies were accompanied through the Acquis Audit (self-diagnostic using the toolkit, visit of an acquis expert);
A report will be published to present the main obstacles in acquis compliance in the Western Balkan companies in March 2012;
An event presenting the report in each of the countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, FYR of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia) will take place from March until May 2012.
2) Energy Pre-check (part of an energy audit)
15 experts fro the Chambers of Commerce in the 6 Western Balkan countries were trained in January 2012 to conduct the Energy Pre-checks;
The energy experts will help 60 companies over Western Balkan region in optimising there energy use from February to April 2012;
A report will be prepared to present the efficient energy use and general level of knowledge on energy efficiency in the companies;
Events in six Western Balkan countries will be organised in April and May 2012 to mobilise the civil society by presenting the energy reports.
